We’re the Millers Review
RYAN: We’re the Millers is a great, new comedy starring Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston. I really like Jason in this leading role and I kinda loved this movie.
ERIN: I have to agree. I was not expecting much at all and I am pleasantly surprised.
RYAN: It’s laugh out loud funny. It’s very R-rated, lots of swearing and raunchy humor. It is super funny.
ERIN: There’s some full frontal male in there, but in a comedic way.
RYAN: Jenny Ani didn’t go topless for all that she plays a stripper.
ERIN: I’m glad you brought that up. I thought she was gonna be cheesy in the role but I’m relieved she wasn’t.
RYAN: Part of her taking this role is a desperate attempt to be seen as sexy but she’s actually quite good in this part. She’s very funny and still cute, but I just can’t give her sexy. I don’t buy her for a second as a real stripper.
ERIN: Of course not.
RYAN: She can’t dance to save her life.
ERIN: [laughs’ I was trying to find a nice way to say it but yes, she has no moves.
RYAN: Her dancing was actually cringe-worthy. She’s supposed to be a working stripper but please.
ERIN: She does have an amazing body.
RYAN: Yes but regardless of the stripper aspect, Jen excellent in this film and she made me laugh a lot. Even Emma Roberts was funny. I can imagine them reading the script for the first time, freaking out, like, “OMG I’m gonna get to say that!” Some lines were just so hilarious and deliciously inappropriate.
ERIN: …and so absolutely perfect for this movie. I’m just so glad it’s so much funnier than I expected.
RYAN: It’s a little predictable but it’s always enjoyable.
ERIN: It’s kind of new humor.
RYAN: It is original. By now, we’re used to what Ben Stiller, Will Farrell and even Melissa McCarthy can do.
ERIN: Kristin Wiig, too.
RYAN: This movie is fresh. I like the concept that even though they’re not really a family, they find themselves in situations reacting just like a real family, as though it’s just inevitable to behave that way; situational comedy at its best.
ERIN: I really liked that too.
RYAN: And while it’s certainly comedic, there’s also suspense and action and romance. I actually got choked up a few times.
ERIN: I know, I know. I loved the outtakes too.
RYAN: Yeah, must stay for those.
ERIN: It’s just a perfectly funny, well-written movie. I would see it again.
RYAN: Kathryn Hahn is such a great character actress and she always gets the supporting roles and I love her every time I see her in a movie. She’s great in this too.
ERIN: I would see it again.
RYAN: Yeah it’s the kind of movie you’ll re-watch anytime you catch it on cable. It’s risque at times, but a great comedy.
