TRAITOR

CAROLINE: Given that it’s such a movie wasteland this week, I thought I’d check out the only movie that actually looks decent, “Traitor” starring one Don Cheadle.

RYAN: And how was it?

CAROLINE: It was actually quite good. I’m still not sure why it came out in the last week of August along with some of the alleged worst movies of the year, such as “Babylon A.D.” whose director has completely has dissociated himself from the project. Maybe it’s because “Traitor” doesn’t have a big studio or distributor behind it.

RYAN: That could be. But regardless, it sounds like it was an interesting movie. What made it so compelling?

CAROLINE: It’s got a good story that’s very political and terrorism-related, which might normally turn me off. But this one is interesting and it keeps you on your toes. I did wish you were there with me at times because I got a little confused as I sometimes do with movies like this.

RYAN: Honey, that’s so sweet. I wish I’d been there for you as well. Are there any women in the movie or is it one of those all-male action flicks?

CAROLINE: No ladies of note. The main characters are all men, and really good ones at that. We’re talking Guy Pearce, who’s just phenomenal in everything he does.

RYAN: Is he still manorexic?

CAROLINE: [laughs’ Not completely, but he’s noticeably slim.

RYAN: Speaking of slim, how’s my man Don Cheadle?

CAROLINE: He’s always great. He plays a Muslim and you can never really tell whose side he’s on.

RYAN: I do love a good intrigue.

CAROLINE: Exactly. You don’t know who he’s a traitor to until much later in the movie. It definitely keeps you guessing. And his final act is stunning and almost comic, in a good way.

RYAN: Sounds like it was really well written.

CAROLINE: It’s a darn good flick, which is why I’m so confused about its release date and general lack of buzz.

RYAN: What about its length?

CAROLINE: It’s not bad, though it is almost two hours long. I never felt bored though.

RYAN: Bottom line?

CAROLINE: I really think this movie would be getting a lot more attention if it weren’t buried at the end of August. It has heavy themes that are relevant to today’s world, which not everyone enjoys, but it’s not a war movie or anything. It’s really well done and I quite liked it.

RYAN: Coolio. Hopefully people will actually see it.

Thanks For Viewing The TRAITOR
