Trailer Thursdays!
CAROLINE: We are approaching a very juicy time of year where all the good Oscar-worthy movies are upon us!! Which means great trailers in the theaters right now.
RYAN: Sadly, we never get to see them because there aren’t any trailers at critics’ movie screenings. But believe me, we’re watching ’em online.
CAROLINE: I think there are three stand-outs right now. I’m shivering with excitement over “Shutter Island,” the latest Martin Scorsese/Leonardo DiCaprio collaboration.
RYAN: This looks amazing. And what a cast! Hello Mark Ruffalo, Michelle Williams, Patricia Clarkson and Ben Kingsley.
CAROLINE: This is one of my most anticipated movies of the fall. It comes out in October and it looks dark, creepy and fantastic. Whoever made this trailer is brilliant. Feast your eyes on it here:
RYAN: Next up is “It’s Complicated” starring Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin from the director of “Something’s Gotta Give.”
CAROLINE: I loved that movie! This one looks equally great. Normally I wouldn’t get excited for a romantic comedy about older people, but with a cast like this how could you not?
RYAN: I love a love triangle any way it’s served up, and it’s also cool to see Meryl opposite two amazing and high-larious actors.
CAROLINE: It looks funny, sweet, sad and romantic all in one. My friend Blake pointed out that he would have preferred Diane Keaton in the role, especially since she was so amazing in “Something’s Gotta Give.” I kind of agree; but Meryl is a fab pick too.
RYAN: Ew. How anyone would ever prefer Diane over Meryl in anything is beyond me. Meryl’s the kind of actress you can’t see anyone else having done the role – so just wait till you see this one, Blake. And then we’ll talk.
CAROLINE: My last most anticipated movie is “The Lovely Bones.” I read this book and it nearly destroyed me. I will prepare to be in tears for the entire movie.
RYAN: I never read it, but it looks phenom. Director Peter Jackson will no doubt bring it.
CAROLINE: The story is so heartbreaking and original. I’m sure Saoirse Ronan will be awesome in the lead role. She’s such a young talent.
RYAN: Wasn’t this the movie with the scandal where Mark Wahlberg replaced Ryan Gosling in the middle of production?
CAROLINE: Yes! But now Peter Jackson is saying there was no scandal and that it was just the Ryan was too young for the role, which he himself had said all along. Either way, it looks phenom. Check out the trailer here:
RYAN: Lastly, we have my most anticipated upcoming film, “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus,” which is famous for being Heath Ledger’s final movie.
CAROLINE: This is a little fantasy/sci-fi for me, but it is a very trippy, cool trailer.
RYAN: It looks like such a Wonka-esque delight. I’m all set to buckle up and get swept up into it. I also can’t wait for Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” this spring, so I’m hoping this one will quench the thirst for fab fantasy until then. Love it:
