THE HOLIDAY

RYAN: [singing’ We need a holidaaaay! And here it is.

CAROLINE: Thanks Madonna! This movie should have been called “The Holiday: A Christmas Gift from Nancy Meyers to Me.”

RYAN: Oh honey! You’re not frontin’.

CAROLINE: Do you disagree?

RYAN: Not at all! This film answered all of my Christmas wishes.

CAROLINE: I think it answered only three-quarters of my Christmas wishes and here’s why: the Jude Law/Cameron Diaz scenes just about made my night and I could have watched them for 8-10 hours straight. Their chemistry is phenomenal. Not so much for Kate Winslet/Jack Black.

RYAN: True, but newsflash: Kate Winslet is an amazing actress and she did a fantastic job here in a supporting role.

CAROLINE: Yes. She’s always great.

RYAN: And Jack Black did his thing and it was good to see him actually play a role – but he did have his Jack Black moments and I sort of laughed but I still wished he wouldn’t have gone there. I wish he would have just played the role.

CAROLINE: I liked his character – he plays a funny film composer – but it just bugged me that the movie featured three gorgeous creatures and then Jack Black. Let’s be honest, he’s a talented guy but not good-looking.

RYAN: I loved Cameron’s character.

CAROLINE: I loved her outfits!

RYAN: They were great too, yes.

CAROLINE: The wardrobe mistress should be commended.

RYAN: Cameron plays such an interesting, complicated character. We’ve never seen a female character who had her kind of issues before and I thought it was wonderful.

CAROLINE: Without giving away too much, the movie has a couple of surprises, which I loved. And I really just can’t say enough about Jude and Cameron together. It’s high time that they played opposite each other in a love story, and who knew it would be this fabulous!

RYAN: When they kissed, it felt like I was being kissed.

CAROLINE: It was a thing to behold.

RYAN: And that one scene when Kate Winslet gets on the plane to fly to America and the guy smiles at her? HMA – Hot Man Alert! He’s one of the hottest men you’ve ever seen on film.

CAROLINE: This is a movie with several plots that sort of interweave, and it’s not a perfect film; but, it’s something for the girls and the gays to love forever. Though I have to admit, I found myself a little disappointed when it would switch to Kate and Jack’s scenes. I preferred Cameron and Jude.

RYAN: Not me. I liked both storylines equally.

CAROLINE: We’re gonna have to agree to disagree.

RYAN: One of my favorite things about the film was that it takes place in both America and England. Kate’s part is in Los Angeles and has old Hollywood innuendoes, and there are great parallels between her storyline and what’s actually happening in the film. And I just loved how it went back and forth between the English countryside and America. Well done!

CAROLINE: And it was nice to hear Kate Winslet speaking in her own accent for a change.

RYAN: Indeed. Bottom line?

CAROLINE: I could easily see this movie again in the theater. I could have watched it back-to-back twice. This movie isn’t going to get nominated for Best Picture but I’m here to say that if you’re a gal like myself who loves a romantical movie, you will love this. And look for a cameo from cutie pie John Krasinski who plays Jim on “The Office.”

RYAN: I absolutely loved it. You said before it’s not a perfect film but I think it’s as close to perfect as a film can be. C’mon… Let’s celebrate!

Thanks For Viewing The THE HOLIDAY
