THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA

CAROLINE: The hotly-anticipated “Devil Wears Prada” has hit the theaters!

RYAN: You were more excited about this film than any film I’ve ever seen you excited for.

CAROLINE: (laughs) That may be true. And the outcome?

RYAN: Are you asking?

CAROLINE: I am.

RYAN: I loved it!

CAROLINE: I loved it too. Well, I loved most of it. I had issues with some parts. Would you like to know what they are?

RYAN: I would, but first I would say, was it a perfect film? No. Was it a wonderful film? Yes. What are your problems?

CAROLINE: Basically, any scene that took place at the magazine or with Meryl, was phenom. I am not in love with Anne Hathaway and I thought every scene with her and her boyfriend sucked because they have zero chemistry.

RYAN: Oh my God, you’re totally right and he was only in it because the director also directs “Entourage” and this guy is the star of “Entourage.” Unlike you, however, I am a ‘uge Anne Hathaway fan and she was brilliant in this film. I loved the montage where she’s walking into work and has a different outfit every two seconds. It’s a credit to the editor, but she really hit all the right emotional chords, and I went on this journey with her character and it was really her story. That being said, this movie belongs to Meryl Streep.

CAROLINE: Yes, Meryl was phenomenal and the chick who plays her other assistant is hilarious.

RYAN: Emily Blunt.

CAROLINE: I like to think of her as James Blunt’s sister. But as someone who used to work in film and had crazy female bosses, I thought the moments between Meryl and Anne were so funny and so true-to-life. But I just didn’t feel the emotional journey from Anne. She looked great and like you said, the outfits were rockin’, but I just didn’t feel it from her. Anything that took place out of the office or with her boyfriend was so lackluster for me.

RYAN: See I was with all of that. But you’re right, the boyfriend I could have done without. That should have been cast differently. But she was great. Though one thing that was very strange were Simon Baker’s eyebrows.

CAROLINE: Yeah, he wasn’t looking his best. But we love him.

RYAN: We saw him in “Something New,” and he was hot and cool, but for whatever reason, in this movie he was disgusting.

CAROLINE: Ok that might be taking it a little far, but yeah, he looked haggard. Something wasn’t right. But Stanley Tucci, hellooo!!

RYAN: He was fine.

CAROLINE: Well, it wasn’t a huge part.

RYAN: It wasn’t one of the greatest gay supporting roles that we’ve seen in recent years.

CAROLINE: He was really funny!!

RYAN: He was fine. There wasn’t anything that funny for me.

CAROLINE: Well I thought Anne McHathaway was merely fine, so there.

RYAN: I said good day.

CAROLINE: Good day, sir!

RYAN: Final thought?

CAROLINE: I would recommend this. The good scenes are great. And the mediocre scenes are mediocre. It’s not the outstanding film I wanted it to be in the sense that I wanted to walk away feeling like I felt about Reese Witherspoon in “Legally Blonde.” Like, “Wow, that chick really owned that movie, this is her star turn.” And I just didn’t feel that way about Anne.

RYAN: Ok. I see what you’re saying, but I already love her. You know who you are out there, if you’re going to love this movie. And you’ll see it and love it or at least enjoy it. But in the season of blockbusters we’re in, you could wait to see this on TV. You don’t have to see it on the big screen.

CAROLINE: No, not in the sense of special effects, but I know me and I know my friends, and this is a movie you want to see asap.

RYAN: Right, but if you’ve got to choose, I’d see a movie you can appreciate with the surround sound and big screen. I would enjoy this film just as much seeing it on cable or a rental.

CAROLINE: I would totally watch this again if it were on HBO, fo’ shizzle.

RYAN: Oh, I will. It could even be Showtime.

Thanks For Viewing The THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA
