THE COVENANT

CAROLINE: You saw a movie called “The Covenant” without me and it’s okay cos I don’t even know what it is. Ryan, what is it?
RYAN: It’s a movie directed by Renny Harlin.
CAROLINE: Oh no! It’s already doomed to be a disaster.
RYAN: Sadly, he does not have a great track record. It’s about the supernatural and witchcraft, which interests me. It’s about a coven of hot, young, sexy male witches.
CAROLINE: So they’re wizards then?
RYAN: No. Witches can be male and female. Visit Salem. Learn Wicca. Get your facts straight.
CAROLINE: (laughs) Alright!
RYAN: The thing is… these dudes are so hot. There’s a shower scene, a swimming scene and each guy is hotter than the next.
CAROLINE: Get your dirty mind outta the gutter.
RYAN: You can’t help it. They’re obviously beautiful. And I kept thinking, “The boys in my high school were this hot. Not!”
CAROLINE: (chuckles)
RYAN: It’s like “Grease.” The actors were all too old to be portraying high schoolers.
CAROLINE: Like Stockard Channing who was 34 when she played Rizzo in “Grease.”
RYAN: Exactly. But they are gorgeous and have magical powers… and that’s all I need in a lover! But I liked seeing a witch movie where they’re dudes and there’s even a man on man kiss.
CAROLINE: Oh. Okay. Bottom line?
RYAN: I liked it; didn’t love it. For the tween set. It’s not “Charmed” nor “The Craft.” It felt like an episode of “Buffy,” or an after-school special with better effects. But if you’re in the mood for eye candy… this film delivers – handsomely.
