THE BUCKET LIST

RYAN: Thank you for saving me from going to the senior citizen fest that is “The Bucket List.”

CAROLINE: Don’t be dissin’ one of my all-time favorite directors, Rob Reiner! BTW you shouldn’t be thanking me, you should be taking yourself to the theater to see it. Granted, it does star two old guys in the form of Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. But I really liked it.

RYAN: Does Jack do his typical Jack shtick?

CAROLINE: Not so much. It’s more of a humble role for him. He plays a wealthy, ailing, cancer-stricken dude who gets paired up in a hospital room with Morgan Freeman, who’s a mechanic.

RYAN: So Jack doesn’t wear sunglasses in every scene?

CAROLINE: Ha, no. There are no sunglasses at night. This is the role that he had the shaved head for at all the awards shows last year. And Sean Hayes is in it too, as Jack’s assistant.

RYAN: OMG, Just Jack! I love him.

CAROLINE: The movie is definitely a little maudlin and sentimental. It’s about two sick old guys from different walks of life who make a list of things to do before they kick the bucket; hence the title. It’s about grasping a hold of life before you die, and how two very different men can find a commonality in life. Failing health is the common denominator for all of us.

RYAN: So it’s all uplifting and inspiring?

CAROLINE: Sort of, but it’s done in a funny way. There are definitely messages about the importance of family and doing what makes you happy in life. I’m sure some people will write it off as annoying holiday crap, but I embraced it and even got a little misty at the end.

RYAN: So what’s your bottom line?

CAROLINE: I dug this movie, but I like getting emotional in movies. It’s a fun, light-hearted but thoughtful movie for the holidays, and the acting is great. It’s not going to win any awards or anything, but it’s definitely heartwarming.

RYAN: Maybe I’ll take my dad to it. Sounds like a parent movie.

Thanks For Viewing The THE BUCKET LIST
