THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM
CAROLINE: “The Bourne Ultimatum” so did not disappoint.
RYAN: This is a case where the sequel is better than the original.
CAROLINE: For sure. The second was better than the first, and the third is probably the best of them all. The fighting scenes are unreal. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anything like it before.
RYAN: Our friend Sean John joined us for the movie, and he made the call that this movie is the best action film since “Casino Royale” last year. I totally agree – it’s an amazing action espionage movie that’s on par with a Bond film.
CAROLINE: It’s a smart man’s action movie. “Live Free or Die Hard” was awesome too, but most of it was pretty implausible. Whereas in “The Bourne Ultimatum,” there are amazingly realistic fistfights that are so good that the audience actually applauded afterward.
RYAN: And in keeping with the two previous Bourne films, the movie is very clever and fast-paced. A slight warning though – when you see this movie, sit toward the back of the theater, because the camerawork is a little shaky it moves so fast that it made me wanna puke a little.
CAROLINE: It’s a little jarring. There’s a lot of hand-held camerawork in the movie and it totally works, but you definitely need to sit back a little and take in the whole screen.
RYAN: I love, love, love Joan Allen. She is brilliant in this. Her scenes with David “Good Night and Good Luck” Straitharn were gold.
CAROLINE: Joan is Botoxed and glossed to perfection in every scene. Nary a hair is out of place. And this just in – David Straitharn is kind of growing on me in a silver fox way.
RYAN: Ok, that’s disgusting. There is nothing sexy about the man.
CAROLINE: I kind of dig his wrinkles. What can I say?
RYAN: You’re showing your age, Caroline. But seriously, this movie may be one of my favorite Ben Affleck films of all time.
CAROLINE: Yeah, Matt Damon is really awesome. Obviously he’s played Bourne before, but who knew that little Matt Damon could be such a badass? He doesn’t seem like the type. But his fight scenes are so intense and amazing, they must have taken weeks to choreograph.
RYAN: I’m so glad you used that word because I was amazed at the action sequences. This is not a special effects film, but the action scenes are choreographed to perfection, almost like a great dance.
CAROLINE: There’s one that takes place in a bathroom that is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It was so incredible, and I all could think was how hard it must have been for the actors to learn all the moves.
CAROLINE: I had a feeling this movie would be awesome because we know Paul Greengrass is a great director and Matt Damon was so good in the previous Bourne films. I definitely recommend this movie, even if you haven’t seen the first two. So go see it regardless, or do like my friend Cheryl did; rent the first two, and then see “The Bourne Ultimatum.”
RYAN: The locations in this movie are gorgeous – London, Tangiers, New York, Madrid. It made me want to jump on a plane to Morocco tomorrow. The score is great and really gets your energy pumping and moves the film along well. You will definitely enjoy this on the big screen; so don’t wait to see it.
CAROLINE: And the end is so cool. That’s all I’m gonna say.

I am so glad you liked it! Greg and I really want to see it and I wanted it to be good. Out here in Idaho, the pickins’ are slim. We have been dying to go to the movies but I refuse to see The Transformers or Harry Potter (sorry, Ryan) and that’s all there is. And lots of cattle.
