The BAFTA Awards
RYAN: So I know as Americans we’re not supposed to care about things that don’t happen in our own country…
CAROLINE: [laughs’ Or we’re supposed to pretend not to care.
RYAN: But while we were watching that random televised live music concert…
CAROLINE: …some of us call it “The Grammys.”
RYAN: Right. Did they give out any awards? I couldn’t tell between all the performances. Anyway, what I’d like to know is… why is it that when America hosts an awards show it’s televised worldwide, but when awards shows happen in other countries, you’re swimmin’ upstream to try to view it?
CAROLINE: Are you referring to the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, otherwise know as the BAFTAs?
RYAN: Yes! It’s quite an awards show. And many of our favorite stars were there glamorously winning lovely trophies.
CAROLINE: I don’t really care about them.
RYAN: I would totally have watched them.
CAROLINE: Of course you would. And you also enjoy animated movies and entertainment intended for children.
RYAN: Many adults do.
CAROLINE: You’re an idiot.

RYAN: Rock out Marion Cotillard & Daniel Day-Lewis! I think these results may be reflective of the upcoming Academy Awards.
CAROLINE: I hope so. I would be thrilled if “Atonement” won the Oscar for Best Picture.
RYAN: I love how they gave an award to Hollywood “It Boy” Shia LaBeouf. It’s kinda like the Grammy for Best New Artist, except not really.
CAROLINE: It is a little random since it’s not for any specific work, like every other award.
RYAN: Next year in London! And yippee for “The Golden Compass”!
