TAKE THE LEAD

RYAN: Today we’re all atwitter about the latest from Latin Lover Antonio Banderas…
CAROLINE: Mmm mmm.
RYAN: Titled?
CAROLINE: “Take the Lead.” I have to say I was sort of looking forward to this one.
RYAN: You were looking forward to it and it didn’t disappoint you either.
CAROLINE: Well you know my point of view. I really liked it.
RYAN: I liked it too. It was fantastic entertainment.
CAROLINE: Yeah. I mean, give me a dancing movie and I’m pretty much happy and good to go. Throw in a little Antonio, who by the by, is looking fabulous…
RYAN: He actually looks better in this movie than I’ve seen him look in years… Melanie Griffith has really dragged him down; but, here he’s lookin’ fly.
CAROLINE: The movie’s actually based on a real dance teacher and I was just… inspired.
RYAN: Inspired by… and inspiring.
CAROLINE: Exactly!
RYAN: You know who really stole the show for me though? Alfre Woodard. She was brilliant.
CAROLINE: She was good. I don’t know what they’re doing to her on “Desperate Housewives;” but, it’s not becoming her, shall we say.
RYAN: They’ve totally drowned her. We haven’t even seen her in weeks on “Desperate Housewives.”
CAROLINE: They tried to make her sinister. But she plays the principal in “Take the Lead” really well. I was into her.

RYAN: She was fresh, cute, hip… And the kids were great.
CAROLINE: They were great. And if you like dancing in any way, shape or form, this is the movie to see.
RYAN: By the way, the dancing in this movie is the new “dirty dancing.” It was sexy and hot.
CAROLINE: It was, like, ballroom meets hip hop.
RYAN: And totally cool.
CAROLINE: I just looooved the scene when he brought his star student in to do the tango example for the kids.
RYAN: Mmm hmm.
CAROLINE: (gasps) That was just unbelievable.
RYAN: Well, the tango. Enough said.
CAROLINE: And I don’t mean to beat this to death, but Antonio is HOT! And he was an all around good guy. I’m a sucker for those “struggling kids make good” movies.
RYAN: Me too. Final thought?
CAROLINE: Sure.
RYAN: We’ve seen this movie before in various other renditions. It’s part “Mr. Holland’s Opus,” “Dangerous Minds,” etc… But it’s updated here with freshness and contemporary lifestyle and it really is an entertaining, well-rounded story that, happily, is based on truth.
CAROLINE: And I won’t lie to you. I totally cried.
RYAN: You did?
CAROLINE: Yes. I shed a tear.
RYAN: And I slept.
CAROLINE: (laughs)
RYAN: Kidding.
CAROLINE: Antonio can move and, my God, is he sexy. Sure, it’s got its cheesy “oh, that would never happen” moments, but I didn’t care. I bought it all. I loved it all.
RYAN: Enjoy “Take the Lead.”
CAROLINE: You will.

but were you at all offended by the fact that is was total ripoff of the mad hot ballroom – same guy, right?

Yes, Jess, it was the same dude; but, one was a documentary and the other, a dramatization with a Hottie in the lead. Thanks for reading our blog!-Ryaline
