STONE

RYAN: There are some movies that I’ll see no matter what just because of a certain actor. And Edward Norton is one such actor.

CAROLINE: He is terrific. And this also stars Robert De Niro and Milla Jovovich.

RYAN: I’ve loved many performances of Ed and Bobby but I have to tell you the most shocking thing about Stone is Milla. To have a stand-out performance against two powerhouse actors is quite an accomplishment. She really steals the show.

CAROLINE: Wow. That’s impressive.

RYAN: I never thought it would be possible. I don’t consider her a fabulous actress, though she’s never been disappointing either.

CAROLINE: Well, she doesn’t always choose the best roles, LBH, let’s be honest. She’s done a lot of random sci-fi and such.

RYAN: But in this movie she truly proves herself. If I had read the script, I’d have totally thought of Juliette Lewis for the role; but Milla nails it.

CAROLINE: How were the boys and the rest of the film?

RYAN: It’s a character study and a good kind of slow movie.

CAROLINE: Is there such a thing?

RYAN: [laughs’ Yes! Of course. It’s a very measured pace and an interesting story. I don’t want to give anything away but Ed plays a dude in prison who finds spirituality and his performance is great – he’s so good at playing that fine line where you don’t really know whether to believe him or not.

CAROLINE: Yes. I loved that about him in Primal Fear.

RYAN: Oh, beyond. He’s super fab. And then Bobby De Niro’s wife is played by Frances Conroy.

CAROLINE: Nobody does dowdy like Frances.

RYAN: Too true. And her hair does some acting in this movie too.

CAROLINE: [laughs’ What do you mean?

RYAN: It’s just so listless and tells a lot about her character.

CAROLINE: Okay. So is this an amazing feature? Do I have to see it?

RYAN: You’d really like it. It’s a pretty dense story, well written and acted. There are a couple shocking and intense moments and those in between are cool too.

— BOTTOM LINE —

RYAN: It’s not a must see in the theater, and I can’t say it’ll be an Oscar contender, but it’s a pretty good film with a quirky, serious and interesting story. Because of the pace and the subject I’d recommend it for a more mature audience.

This is really a breakthrough from her (Jovovich) regularity in scifi movies. From the looks of your review, she seemed to have nailed it.Latest Entertainment News
