PREMONITION
RYAN: I had a “Premonition” that people knew this weekend whether or not they should see this movie and the box office reflects their instincts.
CAROLINE: I’m not sure that makes sense. But we saw it and it’s no “Lake House,” sadly.
RYAN: Not at all. Though it does have a house near a lake.
CAROLINE: Be that as it may, this movie disappointed me.
RYAN: Really? I like psychological dramas and science fiction so I liked those parts of this film; the whole, “What’s going on?” and trying to put the pieces together and figure out where it’s headed.
CAROLINE: First things first – Sandra Bullock’s hair is tragic. She had raggedy, ugly hair throughout.
RYAN: It’s a non-hairstyle. She had bangs but never any styling. It just all hangs there.
CAROLINE: The bangs appeared to be growing out but no one gave them a trim.
RYAN: And her mom was so mean.
CAROLINE: The mom’s face was so taut. She had serious BPS, bad plastic surgery.
RYAN: Julian McMahon’s lookin’ good in his big screen leap from Nip/Tuck.
CAROLINE: He’s hot. Full stop.
RYAN: But poor Nia Long, who played Sandy’s best friend, had a really thankless role.
CAROLINE: Totally, she had like two lines. They were just trying to be forward-thinking by giving Sandra a black best friend.
RYAN: I like Amber Valletta, but she’s never had a role as big as in “Hitch.”
CAROLINE: True. I really liked the end of the movie though. Not the final minute, but the minutes leading up to it. They were very intense. The climax was exciting, but then the very end was odd and unsatisfying.
RYAN: It’s not a perfect ending and it’s not a perfect movie. Though I wasn’t bored and I somewhat enjoyed the theater-going experience.
CAROLINE: People were coughing too much.
RYAN: Yes, but I enjoyed seeing this in the theater and it wasn’t too long.
CAROLINE: Thank God for small favors. Bottom line?
RYAN: Overall, it’s a little vapid. I wanted it to be more like “Deceived,” the Goldie Hawn film. It needed more of a twist and some more edge-of-your-seat moments. It turned out a little foolish.
CAROLINE: The whole story is kind of depressing. Sandra Bullock’s marriage is in shambles. What can I say, I didn’t love it. It’s not a must-see.
RYAN: It’s not even the kind of movie you’d watch a second time if you caught it on TV.
CAROLINE: Not even. Better luck next time, Sandy.
