Oscars 2008 Update
RYAN: Just to keep everyone posted… the people behind the Oscars are saying that the show will definitely go on, they’re just not sure in what form.
CAROLINE: They’re scheduled for February 24th, but we’re still not sure if it’s going to be the usual Oscars. They’re making a contingency plan for if the writers’ strike is still happening.
RYAN: At this point, there’s no end in sight for the strike, but I’m trying to be hopeful.
CAROLINE: Academy Awards producer Gil Cates hasn’t released many details for what this alternative Oscars broadcast might be, but some of the possibilities include presenters having to write their own speeches or pre-taped segments. As we know, the stars won’t show up to a live show if the writers are picketing. But we’ll be watching either way.
