Oscar Countdown!

RYAN: (singing) And I am telling you!!! America! – no one is as excited about the Oscars as we are!

CAROLINE: They’ve come up on us so quickly this year. I can’t even stand it!

RYAN: It’s an event – the glamour, the fashion, the awards, the acceptance speeches. It’s a hullabaloo.

CAROLINE: It’s all too much! And if something gets me to bake, you know it’s a big deal.

RYAN: I’m so looking forward to your Rice Krispies Treats; though it’s debatable whether that counts as baking.

CAROLINE: Fair enough.

RYAN: Don’t worry, I’ll devour them ‘cos you’re fabulous at making ’em.

CAROLINE: As we’ve discussed earlier, the bummer about the Oscars this year is that we’re all aware of who’s going to win in the big categories, at least the acting ones. The only unsolved mystery is who’s going to win Best Picture.

RYAN: There’s no film that we’re truly passionate about this year. It’s not so much about the awards for us this year.

CAROLINE: Mostly because we already know that Helen Mirren, Forest Whitaker, Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy are going to win. Though there’s some quiet buzz about Alan Arkin stealing Eddie’s award. Those crusty old folks in the Academy like Alan.

RYAN: Whatever. It’s totally Eddie Murphy’s year – all the way.

CAROLINE: On a personal note, I’m voting for “Babel” to win Best Picture. That film moved me like no other this year. I wish Adriana Barraza would win Best Supporting Actress but she doesn’t have a snowflake’s chance in hell.

RYAN: Whether the awards are predictable or not, we will be riveted to the TV screen on Sunday night and you can read all about it then.

CAROLINE: Don’t forget! They start at 8:30PM Eastern time on ABC.
