New on DVD
RYAN: Just in time for the holiday season, it’s raining “Harry Potter” DVDs and I couldn’t be more thrilled.
CAROLINE: I can’t imagine anyone more excited than you that the sixth HP movie is finally available for purchase.
RYAN: “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” is as good as any of them and I love the DVDs because they have deleted scenes and all the cool stuff for major HP fans such as m’self.
CAROLINE: So, obviously you’re getting it. I’m surprised you weren’t in line last night at midnight.
RYAN: That goes without saying. But also new on DVD and Blu-Ray this week are the re-releases of the first two HP movies in ultimate, definitive multi-disc, box-set collections.
RYAN: They have the regular features plus new documentaries and also extended versions of the films that include deleted scenes.
CAROLINE: You must be dying! I’d also like to mention that one of my favorite movies of the year, “Julie & Julia” is new on DVD this week. Everyone should rent this!
RYAN: Honey, please; it wasn’t that great.
CAROLINE: Well, I thought it was. It’s got such a moving story and Meryl Streep is to-die-for amazing. I loved the portrayal of her marriage, and Stanley Tucci was so cute as her husband.
RYAN: Their storyline was great, but I really loved Amy Adams’ scenes. Aside from that awful wig, of course.
CAROLINE: I loved it all equally, but the Meryl scenes were just superb. Nora Ephron has made another wonderful film.
RYAN: It’s a decent movie but I didn’t think there was enough action. However, I do remember thinking it would be just as enjoyable as a rental as on the big screen; so if you missed this one, it’s worth checking out.
CAROLINE: And let’s be honest – Meryl’s gonna get nominated for an Oscar.
RYAN: Doesn’t she always?
