New on DVD
CAROLINE: The Isla Fisher flick, “Confessions of a Shopaholic,” is new on DVD today. I thought it was merely so-so.
RYAN: Are you kidding me? I loved this movie! Isla Fisher is adorable, and it had such a cute love story. And hello, Hugh Dancy!
CAROLINE: Loved the cast, but it’s rated PG and was totally targeting little girls, which annoyed me. I wanted it to be edgier and more adult.
RYAN: Well, the reasons you didn’t love it are precisely the reasons I did. It was fun and light and I totally recommend renting it.
CAROLINE: I suppose it’s cute enough to merit a rental if you like this genre. Meanwhile, all I can think when I look at Isla Fisher is, “Oh my God, you get to sleep with Sacha Baron Cohen.”
RYAN: [laughs’ Another new DVD out this week is “Inkheart,” which I adored.
CAROLINE: Even I liked this movie, which was shocking since it’s a family film. But the premise was so cool! Brendan Fraser plays a guy who can make characters and props from books come to life just by reading aloud.
RYAN: It’s based on one of my favorite books, so I was guaranteed to love it; and I’m so thrilled you did too. The movie is actually quite different from the book, but that didn’t bother me because it was so good.
CAROLINE: Can we talk about how hot Brendan Fraser is in this movie? Even when he’s playing a dad, I can’t get enough of him.
RYAN: It co-stars Paul Bettany and even has a little cameo from his real-life wife Jennifer Connelly. I love her. And the special effects are great. Definitely see it!
CAROLINE: I wouldn’t recommend this for very little kids because it had some scary parts at the end. But other than that, it’s a great family film that I totally enjoyed. And I don’t say that very often so you know this one must be good.
