New on DVD

RYAN: Lots of new movies on DVD today, starting with “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa,” which is one of my favorite animated films of last year.

CAROLINE: I so couldn’t be bothered to see it.

RYAN: It’s very cute, and it has the voices of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Alec Baldwin and many others. I thought it was even better than the first “Madagascar.”

CAROLINE: I’m happy for you.

RYAN: I’m telling you – it’s great. And it has lots of adult humor so parents can enjoy it too. Definitely worth renting if you missed it in the theater.

CAROLINE: Let’s move on. “Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist” is also out on DVD today, and I remember really looking forward to seeing it last fall. Sadly, it disappointed me. I love Kat Dennings though.

RYAN: She’s great, but this movie was definitely a little bland. I loved all the high school scenarios, but it wasn’t as funny as I’d hoped.

CAROLINE: And even thought Michael Cera is sweet and cute, I don’t really get him in the teenage heartthrob role. He’s certainly not sexy.

RYAN: Ew, no. He’s a good actor though, and I liked the guys who played his friends in the band. It’s a cute movie, but nothing stellar.

CAROLINE: Speaking of which… lastly, we have “Zack and Miri Make a Porno,” the totally underwhelming Kevin Smith movie from last year.

RYAN: Ick. I didn’t see this one, but I was so disappointed that you didn’t love it; especially since we adore Elizabeth Banks and Seth Rogen.

CAROLINE: I had such high hopes for it, but it turned out to be unfunny and totally raunchy. And it has a preposterous love story. I so didn’t buy it.

RYAN: I keep reading that some stores won’t carry the DVD because it has the word “porno” in the title.

CAROLINE: I know. It’s so ridiculous. Though I will say, the movie does have some very graphic sex scenes and lots o’ profanity. Kevin Smith should have cut some of that out and put some better jokes in.

RYAN: So are you saying it’s not even worth renting?

CAROLINE: Only if you love these actors or you’re a Kevin Smith devotee.

Thanks For Viewing The New on DVD
