New on DVD
CAROLINE: A movie that you liked but I couldn’t bear to see, “Meet the Spartans,” is out today on DVD.
RYAN: I love these spoof movies! I know you can’t tolerate them, but I think they’re hilarious. This one is a send up of the movie “300.”
CAROLINE: You also liked it because it spoofs real-life Hollywood gossip stories too, like Britney Spears shaving her head.
RYAN: Totally. I’m telling you; these movies are brilliant. There’s also a special unrated version on the DVD. Do check it out; it’s definitely worth a rental.
CAROLINE: “Semi-Pro” is also new on DVD today. As I recall, we were unable to attend the advanced for this movie, and then we didn’t bother to pay to see it.
RYAN: Well, no one really did. It barely made any money in its opening weekend, which is unusual for a Will Ferrell movie.
CAROLINE: Oddly, there’s a 2-disc special edition DVD for this movie. I’m not sure it merits that.
RYAN: I think I’ll make it through life having never seen this movie. Also out today on DVD, but barely worth mentioning, is “The Eye” starring Jessica Alba.
CAROLINE: It had a couple thrills, but it was mostly just stupid. I predict a major career slump for J. Alb effective immediately.
RYAN: This DVD has a 2-disc special edition too, with deleted scenes and all kinds of featurettes. Do they honestly think people care?
CAROLINE: I don’t see how they could. Do you remember how tragic her faux violin playing was in this movie?
RYAN: Second only to the tragic faux conducting that Natalie Portman did in “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium.”
CAROLINE: Let’s never speak of it again.
