New on DVD

RYAN: New on DVD today we have “27 Dresses” starring Katherine Heigl.

CAROLINE: It’s so weird to watch “Grey’s Anatomy” now where she’s a supporting character when she’s in reality the biggest movie star of all of them, other than Patrick Dempsey. And with that, allow me to reiterate how excited I am for “Made of Honor.”

RYAN: We know how psyched you are, honey. Getting back to “27 Dresses,” I loved James Marsden in this movie.

CAROLINE: I didn’t think he and Katie Heigl had the best chemistry, but the movie had some really cute moments that definitely make it worth renting.

RYAN: There aren’t any great extras on this DVD – just some featurettes about the dresses and stuff. But if you like Katherine Heigl as we do, you’ll enjoy her in this movie.

CAROLINE: And don’t forget Judy Greer as her hilarious best friend. She’s brilliant.

RYAN: I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that “The Golden Compass” also comes out on DVD today. It was one of my most anticipated movies last year, and I was so disappointed that it underperformed at the box office. But I’m loving the special 2-disc edition that I just bought.

RYAN: It’s one of the best, and most underrated films of last year!

CAROLINE: Yeah, they were supposed to make a trilogy out of it but it looks like that ain’t happening anymore.

RYAN: It’s so sad because next to Harry Potter, it’s possibly the best series of books. And I was really looking forward to seeing Nikky Kidman in a franchise.

CAROLINE: With Daniel Craig no less. LBH, I didn’t love this movie. It’s a fantasy, which isn’t really my bag. But I was admittedly surprised at how poorly this movie did last year, considering how great the special effects were.

RYAN: It won the Oscar for special effects. Go ahead and buy the DVD. Or at the very least, rent it.
