New on DVD

Hitting the small screen on DVD today is “The Lives of Others,” the German movie that won Best Foreign Language Film at the Oscars this year. It’s quite long, but a very well made movie. Better to see it if you don’t know much about it beforehand because all the Oscar hype made it seem a little overrated. Special features include an interview with the director, Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, and deleted scenes.
Also out on DVD today, “Perfect Stranger,” a movie starring Halle Berry and Bruce Willis that no one saw. It’s an internet thriller in which Halle Berry is trying to track down her friend’s murderer. Bruce and Halle were smart enough not to contribute to any DVD extras so all you’ll get is some behind the scenes stuff. It might be a decent rental but hopefully you didn’t shell out 11 bucks for this one in the theater.
