New on DVD
RYAN: If you missed it on the big screen – which is a shame, I might add – you can catch “Cloverfield” on DVD as of today.
CAROLINE: Ugh, you couldn’t pay me to see that again. Cool movie, but once was enough.
RYAN: It was pretty heavy and remniscent of 9/11 for sure, but it was such an incredible movie! J.J. Abrams once again does not disappoint.
CAROLINE: DVD extras include audio commentary from the director, deleted scenes and lots of fun featurettes on the making of the movie, the visual effects and the Cloverfield monster.
RYAN: Definitely worth a rental but watch it on a big TV. Also new on DVD today is “Charlie Wilson’s War.” Snore.
CAROLINE: I dug this movie! You just didn’t like it because it was about politics.
RYAN: When I see Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts together in a movie, I don’t want it to be about the origins of the war in Afghanistan, that’s all I’m sayin’.
CAROLINE: I hear you; but this movie was also really funny, mainly because of Philip Seymour Hoffman. He had the best delivery ever in this movie.
RYAN: It got him an Oscar nomination. And my girl Amy Adams is in it too, as Tom Hanks’s aide. OK, maybe it is worth a rental after all.
CAROLINE: I think so. And it’s a nice, short 95 minutes. Enjoy!

Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts are a classic combination… Charlie Wilson’s War made me feel better about U.S. foreign intervention, it seemed to work out, though that time our intervention was in response to another country’s invasion
