New on DVD

CAROLINE: Yay! “Juno” is out on DVD today. I’ve actually seen it twice, but for those who haven’t yet, it’ll be a great rental.

RYAN: This was such a sweet movie… and our own Ellen Page is becoming a movie star! She’s so brilliant in “Smart People,” which is out in theaters now.

CAROLINE: Interestingly, she filmed “Smart People” before “Juno.” The “Juno” DVD has lots of fun extras like deleted scenes, a gag reel, screen tests and audio commentary from the director Jason Reitman.

RYAN: There’s also a 2-disc special edition with extra features.

CAROLINE: I also want to mention “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead,” a Sydney Lumet film that’s out on DVD today too. It was such a good movie, and I think we both agree that it didn’t get enough acknowledgment last year.

RYAN: Absolutely! Philip Seymour Hoffman is unbelievably good in this movie. Sadly for you though, an old man farted in your face when we saw this at the Angelika.

CAROLINE: [laughs’ That was unfortunate, but it didn’t make me like the movie any less. The DVD has audio commentary from the director as well as Mr. Hoffman and Ethan Hawke, who co-stars as his brother.

RYAN: I think I might even recommend this movie over “Juno.” It’s that good. I still can’t believe Philip Seymour Hoffman didn’t get nominated.

CAROLINE: And finally, another fun but tres quirky movie, “Lars and the Real Girl,” is also new on DVD today.

RYAN: That Ryan Gosling is hot.

CAROLINE: Not so much in this movie. He has funky facial hair and he’s in love with a silicone sex doll. It’s really random and bizarre, but funny; almost uncomfortably so.

RYAN: Love the premise! He and that Emily Mortimer are both so good. If you like indie flicks, definitely don’t miss this.

Thanks For Viewing The New on DVD
