New on DVD
CAROLINE: It’s a practically holy day in DVD releases!
RYAN: How’s that?
CAROLINE: My favorite movie of 2007, “Atonement,” is out on DVD today. And if you missed it in the theater, I’m sorry for you. But if you love sweeping, gorgeous British war/romance movies, then rent it now.
RYAN: Well, it’s not exactly a huge action special-effects-laden blockbuster that you have to see on the big screen.
CAROLINE: I know; it’s just got such gorgeous scenery that it was worth seeing in the theater. And hello – let’s not forget, it got seven Oscar nominations.
RYAN: I can’t take that away from you.
CAROLINE: The DVD has some decent extras: audio commentary from director Joe Wright, deleted scenes and some featurettes about making the film and adapting the novel. I can’t rave enough about this film. I loved it!
RYAN: Well, one of my personal favorites from last year, “Enchanted,” also comes out on DVD today, and if I hadn’t already seen it three times in the theater, I’d be running out to buy it right this second.
CAROLINE: LBH, you’re gonna run out and buy it today anyway.
RYAN: This is true. I can’t get enough of Amy Adams. She’s my favorite actress at the moment. And let’s not forget that Idina Menzel, Tony-winner for playing the Wicked Witch of the West in Broadway’s “Wicked,” is also in the movie.
CAROLINE: Well, then we certainly can’t forget that McDreamy himself is in this too, as Amy and Idina’s love interest.
RYAN: I would never forget Patrick Dempsey. The DVD extras include bloopers, which every DVD should have, deleted scenes, and some behind-the-scenes stuff.
CAROLINE: I just rewatched this movie on the plane, and it really is adorable.
RYAN: Of course. Oh btw, another awesome movie, “I Am Legend,” is out on DVD today.
CAROLINE: That was such a boy movie. But it was kind of cool.
RYAN: The DVD has an alternate ending for the movie too. Definitely worth a rental.
