New on DVD
RYAN: It’s not lookin’ that great for new releases on DVD today.
CAROLINE: Why not? I really liked “Into the Wild.”
RYAN: From director Sean Penn, right. It’s was ok. Excruciatingly slow. I can’t imagine wanting to own this film and watching it over and over.
CAROLINE: I see your point on that one. But I would definitely recommend renting it if you’re into the book it’s based on. The scenery was gorgeous and it’s shot very well. The performances are great too – j’adore Catherine Keener. And it’s based on a true story which is tragic and predictable at the same time.
RYAN: Also new on DVD, and I don’t mean to sound like such a Grinch, but that “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium” starring Dustin Hoffman in the role he commissioned to portray a Wonka-type character.
CAROLINE: Yeah I’m with you on this one. It’s borderline horrendous. And that awkward conducting move Natalie Portman works out at the end is just laughable.
RYAN: I had wanted to like this flick, but can’t really give it a good review.
CAROLINE: I think you walked out liking it.
RYAN: I think I was just pressuring myself ‘cos I wanted to like it. But I’m over it now.
