New on DVD
CAROLINE: A movie we both loved last year, “Gone Baby Gone,” is out on DVD today and you must rent it if you haven’t yet seen it.
RYAN: Seriously. It’s that good. But it’s also kind of disturbing, don’t forget.
CAROLINE: This is true. But how good is that Amy Ryan as the cracked out mom? She was nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
RYAN: I love her. The DVD has audio commentary from Baffleck himself, as well as deleted scenes and info about shooting and casting the film in Boston.
CAROLINE: Also out on DVD today is the Catherine Zeta-Jones vehicle, “No Reservations,” which no one saw but we liked.
RYAN: It’s a cute food movie also starring Aaron Eckhart. It’s based on a German movie called “Mostly Martha” which I’ve heard is even better.
CAROLINE: I’ve been meaning to rent that. Anyway, “No Reservations” was fun, and it’s got Abigail Breslin, who is actually talented.
RYAN: Don’t forget Aaron Eckhart as the love interest. The DVD extras aren’t very exciting. Just some Food Network host going behind the scenes with the cast.
CAROLINE: I just want to mention that a movie that went straight to DVD but shouldn’t have also comes out today, “I Could Never Be Your Woman,” starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Paul Rudd.
RYAN: Oh yeah, I remember hearing about this last year and really wanting to see it.
CAROLINE: I know, me too; but due to some screw-up with the studio, it never got released in theaters, which is a travesty given the great cast and the fact that it was directed by the awesome Amy Heckerling, who directed “Clueless.” I’m going to rush out and rent it immediately.
