New Movie Musical – NINE

RYAN: So excited about “Mamma Mia!” I wish there was a new movie musical, at least every month.

CAROLINE: I think you might die if that happened.

RYAN: Well we seem to get a new one each year. And next year I’m already looking forward to “Nine,” which like “Mamma Mia!” is based on a Broadway musical.

CAROLINE: Right. We saw that together – with Antonio Banderas.

RYAN: And it won the Tony for Jane Krakowski. Now the news is that Kate Hudson just joined the cast of the film version.

CAROLINE: She’s a singer all of a sudden?

RYAN: Well her mom can sing. Remember “The First Wives Club”?

CAROLINE: She sang at the very end but that doesn’t mean Kate has pipes. Though I did hear her sing on SNL once and it wasn’t bad.

RYAN: We’ll see. She’s joining Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Judi Dench, Sophia Loren, Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard.

CAROLINE: An incredible cast! And Rob Marshall’s directing. He made one of my favorite movies, “Chicago.”

RYAN: It’ll be brill. Sadly we have to wait till December 2009 to see it though.

CAROLINE: Well with Daniel Day, we can expect an Oscar nom.

RYAN: Fo’ shizz.
