MULTIPLE SARCASMS

RYAN: Have you ever seen a movie you just wanted to make go away?

CAROLINE: I guess, but I don’t think I’ve ever put it in those terms before.

RYAN: Well I kind of feel that way about Multiple Sarcasms.

CAROLINE: It’s a clever title. The movie didn’t live up?

RYAN: Not at all. I saw it with my pal Vanessa, and although the story raises some interesting questions about relationships and marriage, it’s almost a total waste of time.

CAROLINE: Ouch, really?

RYAN: Well it has a decent cast but the drama factor is so low, it’s just like, “Why make a movie about this story? Why not just write it into a little pamphlet or something?” It’s just not that compelling.

CAROLINE: You’re just not that into this movie. Isn’t it Timothy Hutton and Dana Delany from TV’s Desperate Housewives?

RYAN: It is indeed and I like them as actors, of course, but they play a married couple who divorce ever-so amicably.

CAROLINE: Not that that’s a bad thing… but who wants to watch it, I understand you.

RYAN: It’s the filmic equivalent of watching paint dry. And Stockard Channing’s in it briefly.

CAROLINE: Rizzo. And what about Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino?

RYAN: If she didn’t peak early in her career then I don’t know who did.

CAROLINE: [laughs’ Seriously.

RYAN: At least she invented Post-Its.

CAROLINE: No. That was Lisa Kudrow.

RYAN: Oh, that’s right.

— BOTTOM LINE —

RYAN: Seriously – Tim plays a writer who sits on the throne in the bathroom for inspiration. There’s hardly any drama. I was mostly bored. It’s pretty much a waste of time and moolah.
