Movie News – Robert Downey Jr. as Oz?

RYAN: The energy is out there. Robert Downey Jr. may portray the Wizard in a new movie about the land of Oz.

CAROLINE: OMG you must be dying!

RYAN: A little bit.

CAROLINE: This could be the perfect marriage between something you love and someone I love. I just pray it’s not a kids’ movie.

RYAN: From what I’ve read, it would be a prequel to The Wizard of Oz and could be either an action film or of the family persuasion.

CAROLINE: A prequel could work. We know the worst mistake in the world would be trying to remake the original Wizard of Oz.

RYAN: Totally. This would be called Oz the Great and Powerful and would detail this man’s journey from the U.S. to the land of Oz; and how he became the Wizard there.

CAROLINE: Interesting. It’s like the Judy Garland film in that someone’s going from America to Oz, but just another person’s story.

RYAN: Sam Mendes is rumored to direct, and I would clearly have to see it several times.

CAROLINE: Love Sam Mendes… and so did his wife Kate Winslet, though they’re currently separated.

RYAN: Bummer. He’ll have to get his current James Bond project out of the way first.

CAROLINE: Well who knows what’s gonna happen with the Bond flick – it’s on hold indefinitely while MGM figures out if it has any money!! Isn’t that crazy?

RYAN: Quel nightmare! I really hope that doesn’t prevent Sam from making the Oz movie.
