Movie News – New Romantic Lead for Meryl!
CAROLINE: Remember how much we loved “Something’s Gotta Give” with Jack Nicholson and Diane Keaton?
RYAN: Of course – Diane did full frontal! And it was one of the few movies where the sight of two older folks going at it didn’t make me want to gag.
CAROLINE: I absolutely adored that movie, and was thrilled to find out that its director, Nancy Meyers is thisclose to signing Meryl Streep as the lead in her new romantic comedy.
RYAN: Hooray! I am in love with Meryl all over again after seeing “Mamma Mia!” three times.
CAROLINE: And don’t forget, Nancy Meyers also directed “The Holiday,” which we loved except for the tragic casting of Jack Black in a romantic role.
RYAN: Yes, that was bad, but I so enjoyed the chemistry between Jude Law and Cameron Diaz that I could forgive the Jack problem. Who’s going to co-star with Meryl in the new movie?
CAROLINE: That hasn’t been determined yet, but she plays a woman involved in a love triangle with two men.
RYAN: I love it. Let’s hear it for the older gals getting romantic leads!
CAROLINE: Especially Meryl Streep, who looks so fabulous for her age since she’s not getting any egregiously bad plastic surgery like so many Hollywood gals of a certain age.
RYAN: Priscilla Presley, anyone?
