Movie News – Hollywood’s “It” Screenwriter
RYAN: I almost had an H.A. this weekend when I was at the screening of “Passengers” because of a trailer that I saw before it.
CAROLINE: Ok. Calm down. What was the trailer?
RYAN: It’s for a movie called “Inkheart” which I knew nothing about. It’s based on a fantasy book wherein the stories that the protagonists read come to life. And get this – one of the books they read is The Wizard of Oz! So there’s Toto, winged monkeys, etc.
CAROLINE: You must have been dying.
RYAN: Seriously… I almost plotzed right there.
CAROLINE: [laughs’ I’m so sure. When does it come out?
RYAN: Not til January, which I know is a bad sign; however, once in a while, a fabulous movie gets stuck with a crap release date – see: “Penelope.”
CAROLINE: It can happen, though it’s extremely rare.
RYAN: It stars Brendan Fraser, who I would have asked totally different questions when I interviewed him for “Journey to the Center of the Earth” had I know of “Inkheart.”
CAROLINE: Right. Though he would have only wanted to talk about the movie he was promoting.
RYAN: Anyway, the news today is that the screenwriter of “Inkheart” has just been tapped to pen “Spider-Man 4.”
RYAN: I do because I’m so excited. And this writer, David Lindsay-Abaire, won the 2007 Pulitzer for his Broadway play Rabbit Hole.
CAROLINE: Now I’m intrigued.
RYAN: You’re such an intellectual!
