Movie News!

The new Ang Lee film, “Lust, Caution,” a Mandarin-language erotic thriller, has just received a rating of NC-17 from the MPAA. If this movie wasn’t a must-see before, it sure is now! And Focus Features isn’t even going to try for an R-rating. The sex scenes between the two leads, Tony Leung and newcomer Tang Wei, are apparently so frequent and graphic that there was no point.

While it’s not common for a studio to settle for an X or NC-17 rating (since it could affect awards nominations), it has happened before with high-caliber films such as “Midnight Cowboy” and “Requiem for a Dream.”

“Lust, Caution” premieres at the Venice Film Festival, will be released in New York on September 28th and in other markets on October 5th.
