MONEYBALL
RYAN: I wasn’t completely jazzed up, but certainly interested in seeing Brad Pitt’s latest flick Moneyball.
CAROLINE: Oh honey – anyone would be interested, although it does look like quite a boy movie. Did you love or hate it?
RYAN: I kinda loved it. It’s very much about the game, but it really intellectualizes it and it’s mostly very fast paced. I liked all of it except for the big baseball scene toward the end which was just too long, but still impactful. I even misted up a bit.
RYAN: I know! But it’s so well written and quick. I was thinking the editing and pace was a lot like The Social Network and low and behold, Moneyball was co-written by Aaron Sorkin.
CAROLINE: Well there you go. How was Mr. Jolie?
RYAN: He was great; not pretentious at all and lookin’ as fine as ever.
CAROLINE: Like a fine wine, that one. What about Jonah Hill?
RYAN: You mean Jonah “The Hill”? I don’t know how long ago this was shot, but it was very clearly pre weight loss. He was as big as could be. But so was Philip Seymour Hoffman; who was, as always, brillz.
CAROLINE: ‘Tis a great cast.
RYAN: Robin Wright has only one scene.
CAROLINE: That’s so typical in a boy movie. The gals get the shaft.
RYAN: It’s so genre. I was just so surprised how much I cared about the characters and became invested. It’s a pretty inspiring, well-made film. And based on a true story that’s actually more true than most which tout that phrase.
CAROLINE: You can say that again. Why’s it called Moneyball?
RYAN: That’s cuz with player’s wages and game politics, the baseball industry is all about the benjamins and could very easily be called Moneyball.
CAROLINE: Ah ok. So what’s your bottom line?
RYAN: I’m not an athlete; not even a mathlete but I kinda loved this movie. It’s def a great drama on the big screen that pacts some emotional punch.

I agree! I saw it mostly because of the buzz rather than genuine interest, but I was hooked. Who would have thought a movie about baseball and math would be compelling.Shout out to Chris Pratt too. I thought they made him look really young somehow. I initially guessed it was his little brother or something until I saw his name in the credits.
