MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE III
RYAN: Da Da Dada Da Da Dada (MI Theme)
CAROLINE: Wow!
RYAN: Wowzah!
CAROLINE: We just saw “Mission: Impossible III,” starring Tom Cruise, father of Suri.
RYAN: And future husband of Kate Holmes. Get it right: Kate, not Katie.
CAROLINE: It was really exciting.
RYAN: More than exciting… it was to quote our pal, Irina, “Non-stop, adrenaline-pumping action.”
CAROLINE: It was great. And to quote my brother, Bill, “You have to suspend your disbelief a little.” And that’s true. There’s a lot of far-fetched stuff. But who cares when it looks this good!
RYAN: Exactly. And we have to give it up to the man this movie really belongs to: Director J.J. Abrams.
CAROLINE: He cowrote and directed. It’s a good story; edge-of-your-seat-excitement. I actually screamed out loud a couple times.
RYAN: I know! I was, like, “Stop screaming!” I’ve never heard you scream.
CAROLINE: Yes, I was chastised.
RYAN: Well, we love the TV show, “Alias.”
CAROLINE: Yes. We love J.J. and “Lost.”
RYAN: But this movie was so “Alias!” I’ve even said to you, in the past, that some episodes of “Alias” are like mini-action films. And this movie was like a great, two-hour “Alias,” but with Tom instead of Jennifer Garner.
CAROLINE: And a lot of indie actors. Jonathan Rhys Meyers and even Philip Seymour Hoffman, though he’s been in some big movies too.
RYAN: And we have to talk about TC for a moment. We stand united with the rest of America. We are not Tom Cruise fans.
CAROLINE: Well, not his personality, anyway.
RYAN: However… under any other circumstances, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Billy Crudup are super hot. But next to Tom Cruise?!?!
CAROLINE: He’s lookin’ so great. He’s wearing his age so well.
RYAN: They look average compared to him.
CAROLINE: And as I’ve said many times… no one runs like Tom Cruise.
RYAN: Run Tom Run.
CAROLINE: Best Running in a Movie Oscar – Tom Cruise.
RYAN: Totally. He runs in every film. And in this one, it’s taken to a whole ‘nother level. He ran so well, I thought it was CGI.
CAROLINE: (laughs) Seriously. Our friend, Cosmo, who also joined us tonight, said there were no obvious moments where you thought “Oh that was so CGI.” Every effect was flawless.
RYAN: And Keri Russell was fantastic. But I want to hear what you thought of Phil Sey Hoffman as a villain, cos you were skeptical.
CAROLINE: He plays the villain much better than I expected.
RYAN: He should win an Oscar!
CAROLINE: (laughs) Hey, somebody give that kid an Oscar. He’s a talent.
RYAN: (chuckles) Final thought?
CAROLINE: Big blockbuster, action, kickin’ off the summer movies!
RYAN: Absolutely no disappointments here. This movie completely transcends any disdain toward Tom Cruise. It has everything you want and except from a summer Blockbuster. And I love all the winks and nods to “Alias.”
CAROLINE: We bought it.
