MEN IN BLACK 3
RYAN: The Men in Black are back for another helping after 10 years. And the cast, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones return. And then there’s the added Josh Brolin as a young TLJ. And I really liked it.
KIM: Me too. Josh Brolin was just spot on. His mannerisms, everything, was done perfectly. They may have even attached bigger earlobes on him.
RYAN: The makeup was fantastic and he has the perfect scowl. And let’s face it, Tommy is lucky to get any work these days with that face. He looks so much like the crypt keeper. He has not aged well. He’s almost hard to look at.
KIM: Yeah he’s showing some age. But people get older. What are ya gonna do?
RYAN: But it was a brilliant story device, because of how he looks, to send Will back in time to work with a younger version of Tommy. That way we don’t have to see him so much. Very clever exec producer Steven Spielberg! And I have to say the effects are incredible; the aliens and creatures… so cool but gross too.
KIM: Yeah some parts looked just so real you were grabbing my arm. I was thinking, “I hope I never run into that on the street.”
RYAN: I know. I almost threw up at one point it was so gross, the alien goo and tentacle grossness.
KIM: It was really fun. And I feel like I haven’t seen Will Smith in forever. It was good having him back in action. His chemistry with Josh was great. I loved their scenes together.
RYAN: I also love Emma Thompson in anything and she’s great in this. But it’s disappointing they cast Alice Eve as a younger Emma since she doesn’t resemble her at all, especially compared to how well Josh compares as a younger Tommy.
KIM: Totally. And Emma’s looking fabulous! She’s aging gracefully. She should share some secrets with Tommy Lee Jones.
RYAN: [laughs’ Or the number of her plastic surgeon. I loved how they showed the time travel in this film. The effects were so cool.
KIM: Yeah you never know how a movie’s gonna show time travel and this was unexpected and I really liked it.
RYAN: …as opposed to a time machine.
KIM: And the movie’s pretty tight. It’s less than two hours.
RYAN: It’s definitely well paced and engaging.
KIM: …a lot of action and the 3D is pretty good.
RYAN: Not as good as The Avengers but still good enough to see. It’s not like you have to skip it in 3D. Danny Elfman did the soundtrack and it’s great. And it’s a fun script. They reportedly started filming with an unfinished script but you’d never know it.
KIM: It’s smooth and it’s a fun movie.
RYAN: It didn’t feel last-minute and I liked the ending.
— BOTTOM LINE —
KIM: I think this was even better than the second one. Nothing tops the first one – that’s a classic, but I’d definitely say see it in the theater.
RYAN: Whether you’ve seen the first two or not, this is a good movie to see on the big screen. It’s vibe is like a Mission Impossible – edgy, exciting, fun action. It’s also balanced with good humor and effects. A perfect summer blockbuster.

Dissing on Tommy Lee Jones. Naughty. He's fantastic. Who cares what he looks like.

He is a very talented actor… I'm just being honest about his appearance.
