LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN

RYAN: On a chilly…

CAROLINE: Dreary…

RYAN: Drizzly…

CAROLINE: Gray…

RYAN: Afternoon in NYC, we happened upon a mew-vie known as…

CAROLINE: “Lucky Number Slevin.”

RYAN: That’s “Slevin.”

CAROLINE: I said, “Slevin.”

RYAN: Oh. I thought you said “Seven.”

CAROLINE: Never!

RYAN: Ok. And happily so, because this movie was exciting.

CAROLINE: It sure was.

RYAN: And it’s smart. Things happened I certainly didn’t expect.

CAROLINE: I didn’t see ‘em comin’.

RYAN: No. And I’m sooo happy to see Lucy Liu in a cute, cute role.

CAROLINE: She looked fab!

RYAN: She is fab. She looks like she’s 10 years old, having a great time.

CAROLINE: (laughs) She does look like she’s about 10. It’s quite remarkable. I don’t believe her skin has one pore.

RYAN: But the real star of the film was the set design.

CAROLINE: Yeah. There was some cool stuff goin’ on.

RYAN: The wallpaper! Wow!!

CAROLINE: Trippy!

RYAN: And every room was degorgeous.

CAROLINE: And there was some very cool camera work, some very cool editing… like cutty, little flashbacks…

RYAN: Mmm hmm. Loved that. One thing we must forewarn… which we didn’t realize going into it was this movie was especially…

CAROLINE: Violent?

RYAN: Yes!

CAROLINE: Yeah. It’s a little bloody. There’s a lot of gun play.

RYAN: You don’t get that from the trailer.

CAROLINE: Exactly. Like in the opening sequence, you’re like “Oh! Oh! Oh! Blood spatter! Wow!”

RYAN: Yes. Ten minutes into it, I think I grabbed your arm and was all, “This is a violent movie!”

CAROLINE: You gotta be prepared for some blood.

RYAN: Totally. The performers – Ben Kingsley & Morgan Freeman… giving fine performances.

CAROLINE: Can I be totally weird… and maybe I’m the only one who notices this, but I was a little icked-out by the many tiny moles that Morgan Freeman has on his face?

RYAN: Yes!

CAROLINE: (chuckles) Did you notice?

RYAN: Please. How can you miss ‘em? I’ve been icked by them for years.

CAROLINE: I know. But there were some special close-ups in this movie and I was especially aware of them.

RYAN: Why doesn’t he remove them?

CAROLINE: Thank you. Cos he is a fine actor. How ’bout Bruce Willis?

RYAN: Oh he was great. But the one thing about him that really distracted me… was his wig.

CAROLINE: Oh. I thought they just let him grow in his hair and his hairline is just-that-bad.

RYAN: No no no. He is bald with a capital ALD.

CAROLINE: You’re probably right. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt but apparently you’re not so willing.

RYAN: No. His head is hairless. But for the ladies (and you know who I mean by ladies, gentlemen…) Mr. Slevin himself, Josh Hartnett, is, like, naked for the entire first half of the film.

CAROLINE: Well, he’s wearing a purple, flowered towel.

RYAN: Like I said, “Naked!”

CAROLINE: I normally could care less about Josh Hartnett, but he’s great in this. And he’s looking H, O to the T.

RYAN: I like him a lot more walking out of this movie than I did walking in.

CAROLINE: Absolutely. And that’s a good commentary for young Mr. Hartnett. Ok. Final thought?

RYAN: It was, like, an action thriller with a lot of heart, if you will.

CAROLINE: Yeah, I guess so.

RYAN: I like that. I liked, borderline loved, this movie. I was totally into it. It was smart, kept me thinking and guessing throughout. And overall, this is a very entertaining film on all levels, except it didn’t have any musical numbers.

CAROLINE: No, it didn’t. There was a teeny moment when I thought it started to drag but then it picked right back up again. Overall I dug it too. If you’re not into violence, I’m not sure you’d love it; but, there’s a little element of everything. And Lucy and Josh had great chemistry and I loved that part. And I liked her outfits. A pleasant surprise.

Thanks For Viewing The LUCKY NUMBER SLEVIN
