I AM LEGEND
RYAN: We’ve finally seen one of your most anticipated films of the season, “I Am Legend.”
CAROLINE: Yes, and I have to say I’m a little a disappointed.
RYAN: OMG why? I loved!
CAROLINE: I didn’t love this movie. I really wanted to, but I didn’t.
RYAN: Too science fiction-y for you?
CAROLINE: Maybe. But don’t get me wrong; I didn’t hate it. I guess I just felt like I kept waiting for more. Basically the whole movie is just Will Smith in a wasteland.
RYAN: That’s exactly what I expected, and it’s what we got. It’s a real sci-fi thriller with the emphasis on thriller. I thought it was really scary and exciting, and I jumped more times in this movie than I normally jump in movies where you’re supposed to jump. And even though there are a lot of scenes where it’s just Will by himself, it’s not boring because they weave in some good narration and flashbacks.
CAROLINE: I think I took on your lack of boredom and made it my own. I mean, I wasn’t supremely bored, but I just kept thinking something more would happen, especially in the first hour. I got a little tired of Will Smith wandering around hunting Infected people, watching old episodes of the Today Show and playing with his dog.
RYAN: I was riveted by it. Will had great chemistry with that dog. One of the best onscreen duos of the year.
CAROLINE: I was really bummed that they didn’t make out.
RYAN: [laughs’ They have one pivotal scene together that was brilliantly shot and very disturbing.
CAROLINE: That was definitely one of the highlights of the movie. And I, like you, jumped in my seat several times, but I’m not leaving the theater as thrilled and excited as I expected to be. LBH, this is a boy movie.
RYAN: It’s a raw, unsettling and sometimes shocking film so it’s also pretty sickening. Especially because something like this could actually happen in real life. And as my pal Derek pointed out, it packs a bigger punch viewing it in New York City, as we did, since it all takes place there.
CAROLINE: This movie comes to us from the man who directed “Constantine” and the Britney Spears video “I’m a Slave 4 U,” so all we could expect was movie gold. Bottom line?
RYAN: I liked this movie a lot more than I thought I would. It is definitely a must see on the big screen; it’ll blow you away. If you’re at all interested in it, do yourslef the favor of the theater since it won’t be the same on TV. So get your rump in the seat.
CAROLINE: I didn’t like it as much as I hoped to, but I’d still recommend it. LBH, Will Smith is cool and it’s fun to see him all jacked and being a badass. He can do a role like this in his sleep, which I mean as a compliment. He’s great at this blockbuster stuff.
RYAN: This movie also marks the big screen debut of his daughter, Willow, who’s a much better actor than his son Jaden.
CAROLINE: And she’s much less annoying.
