HE’S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU

RYAN: I really liked “He’s Just Not That Into You,” which stars a plethora of Hollywood A-listers.

CAROLINE: Since we had high hopes for this movie, I am pleased to report that it didn’t disappoint. And while it’s certainly not a perfect movie, it has some really great scenes and some out-and-out hilarious moments. I definitely LOL’ed. And it has some pretty heavy moments too.

RYAN: Let’s break down the cast. Ginnifer Goodwin is the star of the movie, which is pretty amazing for her given that she’s really only known as a cable TV actress on “Big Love.” To be the star of a movie with all these big names is quite an achievement. I really liked her, and totally identified with her character.

CAROLINE: She’s very sweet and cute in this, though I don’t think she’s necessarily a phenomenal actress.

RYAN: I had a love/hate relationship with her purple nail polish. Drew Barrymore plays a very minor role; she must have focused her time on executive producing the film. She also seems to have picked up some of the weight that Jessica Simpson’s trying to lose.

CAROLINE: She’s a big fluctuater. I saw her on Leno this week and she’s skinny again.

RYAN: I was irritated with by hair braids in every scene.

CAROLINE: Yeah, her character always has a braid coiled around her head, and it got a little tiresome. But I liked her otherwise. Jennifer Aniston was good, but I find her nose job very distracting. Her nose doesn’t fit her face anymore and it was all I could look at when she was on screen. She’s entering Jennifer Grey territory.

RYAN: Please, she still totally looks like herself. I didn’t even notice.

CAROLINE: Scarlett Johansson is still no great actress, and she has wretched hair extensions in this movie. They look like bleached blond rope. But she’s gorge otherwise. Her character is a real temptress.

RYAN: She was acting like she’s still in one of her Woody Allen movies. It actually seemed like she was channeling him at certain points. But Jennifer Connelly was so good! She’s the best actress and the only Academy Award winner among the cast. She’s one of my favorites and she gets the most challenging scenes, LBH, let’s be honest.

CAROLINE: She does have one of the more intense roles as the only married lady in the film. This movie is about relationships at every stage, from the first blush of dating to potential divorce. It really runs the gamut, and I think it’s a very honest movie.

RYAN: I totally related to it. It’s all about either wanting to be married, being married or having an affair, etc. It made me want to be straight so I could get married. And it’s interesting, because it really shows you how girls in our society are programmed from an early age to dream of being married and having a big wedding.

CAROLINE: But I appreciated that it didn’t paint a totally rosy picture of married life and relationships; it shows the issues and the struggles as well. The movie’s definitely a little too long because there are so many damn characters to cover. It should have been closer to 90 or 100 minutes, but it’s over 2 hours.

RYAN: I loved all the story lines though, and there’s nothing I would have cut out of the movie. It’s long, but it’s not too long.

CAROLINE: I started to fade a little, but it mostly held my interest because I love these actors, and I’m a girl so I love relationship movies. Plus, Bradley Cooper is H-O-T. He’s hosting SNL this weekend.

RYAN: There’s also a “You had me at ‘hello'”-esque line at the end, which I loved. I may have actually cheered out loud.

— BOTTOM LINE —

CAROLINE
: I really enjoyed this movie. It’s a total chick flick, but it’s also a realistic portrayal relationships that men will definitely relate to. Guys, if your girlfriend drags you to see this, don’t fret; you may actually like it. Everyone can relate to a frank look at love and relationships.

RYAN: It’s not the kind of movie you have to see on the big screen, but if you enjoy romantic comedies, this is a good one. We’ve seen some real stinkers with Kate Hudson, but luckily she’s not in this. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would even see it again.
