FUN SIZE
RYAN: We just saw the new Halloween tween flick Fun Size, produced by Nickelodeon and starring TV star Victoria Justice in her big screen debut.
GABY: I like her on Victoriousand I liked this movie because it takes place over Halloween and not too many movies are like that. I love to see that this time of year.
NOAH: I agree. Usually Halloween movies only have monsters in them, not actual people. And I pretty much liked this.
RYAN: I’m sorry, guys, but I kinda hated this movie.
GABY: Aw!
RYAN: This might have worked as a made-for-TV movie, but there’s no reason to go see this in the theater. This should have just been on Nick or direct to DVD.
GABY: I guess I liked it more than you. I understand it should be on TV. It was surprisingly short and just weird. Like it didn’t really stay on topic.
RYAN: You mean the subplots?
GABY: Yeah, the parts with the Mom going to the party was pointless. They didn’t need that in the movie.
RYAN: I totally agree. Chelsea Handler plays the mom and indeed, her storyline is totally unnecessary.
GABY: And I don’t think things would actually happen in real life like they did in the movie. Like, they stopped looking for her brother to do other things.
RYAN: Yeah. If your brother was actually missing, you wouldn’t be going to a party.
GABY: And that guy who has Albert…
RYAN: Johnny Knoxville.
GABY: Yeah I don’t think what happened with him was realistic.
RYAN: There are many moments in this film, like in scary movies, where people do something stupid that you know you’d never actually do – like go into the dark house alone. This isn’t a horror movie, but it’s lazy and lame in the same way. I did, however, like that her costume was Dorothy.
NOAH: I liked that too.
GABY: I liked her costume too. The ruby slippers were sneakers. That was cool.
RYAN: But as for Chelsea Handler, why wasn’t she funny? LBH, she doesn’t really work in a PG-13 setting.
GABY: The actor who played Albert was hilarious.
RYAN: He was very cute.
NOAH: I liked him too. I have a friend named Albert. And I thought he was funny too. This movie was a little scary though.
RYAN: What scared you?
NOAH: How he just ran away.
GABY: Yeah why would he run away, knowing that it wasn’t right? Did he do it for a laugh or just to get away, not realizing what was gonna happen after?
RYAN: That isn’t explained. And it’s a real PG-13’er. There’s some language and risqué humor. I liked the costumes and the Halloween theme, but it was never really funny until the little bit… during the end credits. Too little, too late. This movie is a waste of time.
