Full Oz the Great and Powerful Trailer

RYAN: I’m in Oz, I mean awe… of this trailer!

CAROLINE: I know honey.  You must feel like today is a national holiday.

RYAN: It’s the first big Oz movie since 1939 and I’m so excited about it, I almost wanna shoop.  There was a teaser trailer and today brings this full length version.

CAROLINE: It looks really cool.  I’m excited for you.

RYAN: Thanks!  There is a lot of CGI going on but it’s the best that moviemaking has to offer today.  I always wondered what Disney or a major movie studio would make of Oz with today’s technology and this is it.  And it’s beyond! There are just a couple things that worry me.

CAROLINE: Like what?

RYAN: Rachel Weisz’s accent for one.  In the trailer, Mila introduces her as her sister and then Rachel sounds British.  Mila appropriately doesn’t, so that’s a strange discrepancy in of itself.

CAROLINE: Oh right.  I didn’t pick up on that immediately.

RYAN: But further, and I know I’m coming across as a bit of an Oz/Baum purist here, but consider the public knowledge that JK Rowling wouldn’t even let an American be cast in a Harry Potter film, let alone an American accent in one.

CAROLINE: That is true.

RYAN: And L. Franks Baum’s The Wizard of Oz is credited as the first American fairy tale.  That means something.

CAROLINE: Yeah I respect that.  You’re an Ozist and owning it.

RYAN: [laughs’ Don’t get me wrong, I’m brewing with anticipation and this trailer really raises the bar even over the teaser trailer.  Many shots had me jumping up, giddy for more.

CAROLINE: I like that shot of the two witches in the air… kinda looks like that final wand battle between Harry and Voldemort.

RYAN: …while levitating.  It’s brilliant.  The only other thing I was looking forward to in this trailer but left empty is theme music.  You know how great movies have an identifiable, iconic theme – Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, Jaws, etc…?

CAROLINE: Totally.  Danny Elfman’s doing the score.  He’s incredible.

RYAN: I love his work and loved his Alice theme.  I’m just praying this will be iconic-making and brilliant as well.  Music looms very large in the success of previous Oz projects.

CAROLINE: Like the Broadway musical Wicked.

RYAN: And Over the Rainbow.  I really wish this movie were a musical, but as it stands, I’m just nervous and hoping the score is genius.  It has to be.

CAROLINE:  It should be.  Just breathe.

RYAN: I just want this movie to make so much money at the box office that Wicked can’t help but go into full prodction immediately!  In the meantime, enjoy this gorgeousness:
