FIGHTING

CAROLINE: I was unable to attend the “Fighting” screening with you, which really didn’t disappoint me. This movie looks like a “Fight Club” rip-off; and a bad one at that. How was it?

RYAN: Wow. You’re, like, a psychic!

CAROLINE: [laughs’ Is it really that awful?

RYAN: Pretty much. It’s terribly predictable and foolish.

CAROLINE: At least the main guy, Channing Tatum, is hot.

RYAN: He is easy to look at, I’ll give the film that. And though we’ve enjoyed him in the past, in movies he’s made about dancing, I just didn’t buy him this time around.

CAROLINE: Well, he’s no Robert Downey Jr.

RYAN: Terrence Howard co-stars and I was really, really disappointed in the choices he made in bringing his character to life.

CAROLINE: How so?

RYAN: He delivered every line too slowly and spoke in an almost sing-songy voice that annoyed me immediately. It was a consistent disturbance throughout the film.

CAROLINE: How random.

RYAN: He just drew out every word, like he was milking every line he had to try and make his part bigger or something. I don’t know. I normally like him.

CAROLINE: He was nice to us on a red carpet once. How were the fight scenes?

RYAN: Well that’s just the thing; they were weak. They were either too short or just stupid. Some people in the audience were shouting out and enjoying them but I was thinking, “What am I missing here?”

CAROLINE: Maybe you’re just not the target audience for this kind of movie.

RYAN: Well, I like action movies, and I liked “Fight Club” and the “Rocky” series. I also think we see enough films to discern which are decent regardless of genre.

CAROLINE: This is true.

RYAN: There was just some heart missing to the story, a sense of reality – and it’s not a movie that should require much suspension of disbelief.

CAROLINE: I’m thankful I had another screening that night and wasn’t able to make this one.

RYAN: The music also sucked, except for the first and last songs.

CAROLINE: Ha, they could probably only budget for two decent songs in the film.

— BOTTOM LINE —

RYAN: This is a pretty bad movie. It’s very poorly written, to the point of embarrassment. The acting is awful, especially from the female lead, Zulay Henao; though she’s very pretty. Really, don’t waste your money, honey.
