ENCHANTED

RYAN: We’ve been waiting for what seems like forever to see “Enchanted” and we’ve been bursting with excitement about it!

CAROLINE: As I’ve said in previous posts, my love for this movie started when we first saw the press photo of Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey in a canoe. And how much do we love Amy Adams?

RYAN: Honey! We heart her most of all!

CAROLINE: She’s truly making her mark as a brilliant character actress in Hollywood, especially after her Oscar nominated turn in “Junebug.”

RYAN: And in the live action part of this film, she so convincingly portrays the naiveté and whimsy of a Disney princess that this role will skyrocket her to big player status in the movie biz.

CAROLINE: I sure hope so. It’s about time.

RYAN: The elements of this film are a simple recipe for magic. You’ve got Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, Susan Sarandon, James Marsden, animation, musical numbers, Disney, a fairy tale and Idina Menzel from Broadway’s “Wicked.”

CAROLINE: Yeah, nobody cares about her. This movie really is a fairy tale; I didn’t realize quite how kid-friendly it was going to be. It seemed like a G-rated film though it’s actually PG. So there are sure to be lots of kids in the audience when you see it, but if you love McDreamy and Amy Adams as we do, you’ll be won over. Even though it doesn’t appear that Amy Adams does her own singing.

RYAN: The lyrics are by the guy who did the music for Broadway’s “Wicked.” I just wish there were even more musical numbers in the film, because every time they broke into song, smiles ran rampant throughout the theater.

CAROLINE: A good portion of the film is shot in NYC, which was fun for us New Yorkers. And there’s a fabulous musical/dance number in Central Park, which must have taken days to coordinate.

RYAN: It was truly like a big old Hollywood musical production number. Susan Sarandon as the evil queen is phenomenal; she’s as good as any Disney villain has ever been.

CAROLINE: She’s this year’s Glenn Close as Cruella de Vil.

RYAN: And James Marsden, who does his own singing in this movie as he did in “Hairspray,” is also really good. He and Amy Adams, as the prince and princess, almost have free reign to overact, and it really works. This movie almost spoofs fairy tales, though not overtly like the “Scary Movie” films did with horror flicks.

CAROLINE: James Marsden really surprised me in this movie. He’s such a pretty boy that I want to be annoyed by him, but he’s really perfect in this role.

RYAN: Patrick Dempsey is the down-to-earth guy in the movie who brings the reality to the fairy tale, but he’s also the element that makes the romance so real. Bottom line?

CAROLINE: This is a really cute movie just in time for the holiday season. I’m sure it will do gangbusters at the box office this weekend because everyone can find something to enjoy in it… except maybe teenage boys.

RYAN: I’m absolutely going to have repeat viewings of this in the theater. I loved it so much. Maybe not quite as much as “Stardust” earlier this year, but it’s a close second. Even if you go in with high expectations, you’ll still be majorly entertained.

Thanks For Viewing The ENCHANTED
