Emerald City Review & Cast Interview
Emerald City airs Fridays at 9/8c on NBC – premiering tonight with a special 2 hour event!
I loved all 10 episodes of season one and whether you’re an Oz fan or look for a brilliant story, you’ll love this show’s fantasy & drama. It’s outstanding!
A new Oz rises – where the power struggle between the witches and Wizard becomes one of magic versus science – weaving a tale of loyalty, identity, bravery and of course, the meaning of home. Using L. Frank Baum’s first three Oz novels as a springboard for story, the characters divert from familiarity toward a new tale; each twist a shocking thrill; with enough Ozzy winks and nods to please any fan. The 2 hour premiere covers a lot of ground and unfolds more like a movie than TV series – in part due to visionary director Tarsem Singh who helmed all episodes and filmed all 10 hours across Spain, Hungary, and Croatia. Banned though it may be, there’s as much magic in #EmeraldCity as any Oz before. It’s all so cinematic, the only disappointment is not viewing it in the theater.
Here’s an exclusive online clip of my interview with stars Adria Arjona (Dorothy) and Vincent D’Onofrio (The Wizard). To Oz!
