EAGLE EYE

CAROLINE: I was hotly anticipating the movie “Eagle Eye” because the plot looked awesome and action-packed and possibly FBI-ish. Plus I dig Michelle Monaghan. And Shia LeBeouf’s OK.

RYAN: Based on the trailer, I was very much looking forward to this film as well because it’s action film that seemed to have some scary/thrilling elements too. And that’s pretty much what it turned out to be.

CAROLINE: I’m sad to say I was a little disappointed in it. Some of the action sequences were great, but I thought the trailer misrepresented the film a little.

RYAN: You might have had very high expectations, and were thus let down. I thought it was a lot of fun. I’ve heard some are saying it was unrealistic, but I don’t think it’s fair to say that about a film unless it’s a documentary. It’s called fiction, people.

CAROLINE: I know, but it really was a little over-the-top at times. There were some action sequences that the two stars never would have survived normally, and it started to bug me a little.

RYAN: But we don’t say that about Bruce Wayne when he’d never survive half of what Batman goes through. Same goes for Tony Stark in “Iron Man.” I realize those are superhero movies, and this one isn’t, but I think “Eagle Eye” delivers on a big action/blockbuster level that you want to see when you go to a movie.

CAROLINE: It did in parts. It reminded me of a combination of “The Game” and “Minority Report” but not nearly as good.

RYAN: Didn’t it also feel like a two-hour episode of “Alias”?

CAROLINE: Sort of. But Jennifer Garner had every business being a badass on that show, whereas Shia and Michelle are supposed to be regular people. And once we found out what was going on and who was making the random phone calls to them, I didn’t think the payoff was that great.

RYAN: I’m sorry you were disappointed. I obviously thought it was cooler than you did.

CAROLINE: Billy Bob Thornton is in it too, and it was nice to see him again in a semi-decent movie. He does the Southern thing very well.

RYAN: I was surprised to see Rosario Dawson in such a tough role. I didn’t necessarily take her that seriously ‘cuz I see her as too romantic for this part.

CAROLINE: She was flat-out miscast. At the end of the movie, I was like, “Why on earth did they pick her for this role?” She didn’t seem comfortable at all. Plus she looked kinda homely. Not her fault though. Bottom line?

RYAN: I enjoyed this movie and I think it’s worth seeing in theater if at all. It has one of the best car chase scenes in any film and it moves along at a great pace.

CAROLINE: I didn’t hate it and I definitely gasped out loud at some of the action. But overall, it was a little silly. I enjoyed everyone in the cast other than Rosario, but I think there are going to be a lot of better movies coming out this fall.

Thanks For Viewing The EAGLE EYE
