DRIVE

RYAN: I couldn’t decide which would be a better catch on the big screen between Taylor Lautner’s Abduction and Ryan Gosling’s Drive so I went with my gut and chose the leading actor with better credits.

CAROLINE: Good choice. Any regrets?

RYAN: Several.

CAROLINE: Ouch. Why?

RYAN: It’s just a relatively boring movie that felt soooo much longer than the hour, forty minutes it is.

CAROLINE: That’s bad indeed.

RYAN: And it’s extremely violent and bloody which you don’t really gather from the trailer. I’m talkin’ Pulp Fiction gory.

CAROLINE: Ew. Few directors can pull that off.

RYAN: On the upside, it’s stylish and shot interestingly. And the cast is good.

CAROLINE: I love Ryan Gosling and Carey Mulligan.

RYAN: She’s so good at playing the sad sack. But she’s sincere and Ryan just nails his performance.

CAROLINE: Anyone good in the supporting cast?

RYAN: Ok, I know we’ve said it before but that Ron Perlman is just so hard to look at! I was impressed with Christina Hendricks in this and Albert Brooks was very good.

CAROLINE: Where’s he been?

RYAN: Where’ve his eyebrows gone?

CAROLINE: [laughs’ I’m sure I don’t know.

RYAN: The opening title sequence was totally ’80s… like, Cocktail meets Risky Business with the music and the cursive, hot pink lettering.

CAROLINE: That’s odd.

RYAN: Actually, the music overall in the film was some of the worst ever.

CAROLINE:
Well you haven’t seen every movie in the world.

RYAN: Ok, then the music just doesn’t work. I can’t say this was an enjoyable experience at the theater. Maybe I shoulda gone Team Jacob.

THIS is why I wish you guys were back on the air. Drive was one of my favorite movies of the year! Action-packed, but nuanced. Well directed, I actually loved the electro-clash score, top cast. Slick. It was violent, but I thought the images were fleeting enough. It does take it's time getting there, but I thought it was pretty well balanced… Plus, I thought Albert Brooks pulled off the villain! Oh, also SATIN QUILTED-STITCHING SCORPION RACING JACKET!!!!
