CASE 39
RYAN: I just had to see Case 39.
CAROLINE: Why? It looks awful. You hate Renee Zellweger and it’s primed to be one of the worst films of the year since it almost wasn’t even released.
RYAN: I know but it’s more of a love/hate with Renee. And I like scary movies and Bradley Cooper.
CAROLINE: How was he in it? How were they?
RYAN: They’re both good and that definitely makes the movie palatable. But Bradley’s hardly in it. Just for the first half, if you catch my drift.
CAROLINE: Say no more. Are Renee’s eye open at all?
RYAN: [laughs’ Yes. She actually looks pretty good. There was one shot where she almost looked reminiscent of her Jerry Maguire days. Then there was another where her hair was another color altogether and must have been a reshoot or something and they just didn’t care about the color or I don’t know.
CAROLINE: Haven’t we had enough movies about haunted children? They’re almost as typical as vampires these days.
RYAN: Not quite. And this one has a bit of a twist to it. I don’t want to sell this movie – it’s not great. But it’s definitely not as bad as you’re assuming. The first quarter of it actually reminded me of The Pillowman.
CAROLINE: The Broadway play?
CAROLINE: We loved that and it was horrifying.
RYAN: Totally! And this is thematically similar to a point. Then the plot unravels and the movie itself kinda unravels.
CAROLINE: So was it scary at all?
RYAN: There are a couple great scary moments but then the rest are all just totally in the editing – like stupid manipulative moments of, like, someone slamming a cabinet or something but it makes you jump just cause of how it’s edited.
CAROLINE: That’s cheap.
— BOTTOM LINE —
RYAN: It’s not as bad as you’d think but certainly not a good movie. I think it’s just watchable because of Renee and Bradley. The little girl is pretty good but not a revelation like the little girl in Kick-Ass. It’s not a complete waste of time but by no means a must see.

Hahaha! I love the line, are her eyes open at all? Wasn't able to realize that, yeah, Renee does have her eyes half closed in most movies. Is it her way of luring men or whatnot? Well, she did lure Bradley Cooper. Too bad he's barely in the movie.
