BREACH
RYAN: I wanted to see “Breach” with you; but regretfully, I was unable to see it and you saw it without me.
CAROLINE: I did indeed see it out in the ‘burbs with my parents and my brother. It was decent, but it’s definitely a movie you could skip.
RYAN: The trailer looked like it had good intrigue. And I love Laura Linney. Even Ryan “Reese’s Ex” Phillippe looked interesting in it.
CAROLINE: Well, the main draw is Chris Cooper, who’s pretty darn good in everything he does. He is, after all, an Oscar winner. The movie is based on the story of an FBI traitor, and it’s definitely an interesting premise – but I have to say, the movie never fully engaged me.
CAROLINE: I never felt like I really, truly cared about what was happening. There were some tense moments that I enjoyed, but other than that, it didn’t fully capture my attention. Perhaps it’s because you weren’t sitting next to me, darling.
RYAN: Why thank you, sweetheart. But I’m wondering – maybe your problem was that you weren’t capable of following the plot?
CAROLINE: How dare you. I was most definitely not having an “English Patient” moment, since this movie was not hard to follow.
RYAN: Fine then. But I’d like to know more about ex-Mr. Reese Witherspoon. Did he have his annoying speech affect in this movie?
CAROLINE: I’m pleased to report that he did not. He was good in this and he spoke normally. He plays a bumbling, awkward assistant-type who underneath it all is very smart.
RYAN: What’s your bottom line? Is this film entertaining?
CAROLINE: It’s not bad for a February release, but it’s not a must-see. My parents, on the other hand, loved it. So for all you sexagenarians out there, this is a film for you.
