New Trailer – Oz: The Great and Powerful
CAROLINE: Disney revealed the first trailer for Oz: The Great and Powerful, prequel to The Wizard of Oz, at Comic Con. And how are you dealing?
RYAN: Well after now viewing it about one thousand times, it’s beginning to sink in. I’M FREAKING OUT!
CAROLINE: [laughs’ Of course you are. You’re more excited about this than even Harry Potter. And that says something.
RYAN: Well The Wizard of Oz is my favorite film. So having a new, major Oz movie to look forward to is quite lit’truly life-altering for me.
CAROLINE: What do you think of the trailer?
RYAN: It’s Ozsome! No really… I love that it begins in black and white and the aspect ratio of the classic film. I love when it turns to color and looks so lush and gorgeous. I love the hot air balloon, the top hat, the Emerald City… I love Danny Elfman’s score. I love the build up. It’s just enough to make you want more.
CAROLINE: It does look cool. It reminds me a little bit of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and not surprisingly, since it has the same producer.
RYAN: Creating the Land of Oz on screen today, utilizing modern effects and 3D, is just a whole different ballpark from what was accomplished in 1939. I dig what this trailer reveals and am honestly finding it difficult to wait until March.
CAROLINE: Honey, be glad it’s not coming out at Thanksgiving 2013!
RYAN: You’re right.
CAROLINE: What do you think of the cast?
RYAN: I have zero complaints. I will say I almost had an H.A., heart attack, the first time I watched this and saw Mila Kunis. She’s white. She’s the Wicked Witch of the West. But if you watch the entire trailer, it delivers… fully.
CAROLINE: I have to give you it is an exciting trailer. Check it out:
