CRITICS’ CHOICE MOVIE AWARDS NOMINATIONS

CAROLINE: The 17th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards nominations were announced this morning, and we couldn’t be more excited since we get to vote!

RYAN: It’s a thrill every year, especially because of the fun categories like Best Comedy and Best Action Movie. And there are plenty of good movies to go around this year, though Hugo and The Artist are the clear leaders with 11 nominations each.

CAROLINE: Drive and The Help have 8 each, which was a little surprising to me. Not The Help – we all know that’s shoo-in for many noms this year – but Drive. Who knew it would turn out to be such a critical darling?

RYAN: Ugh, that movie was so über violent and slow and just outright boring. I really am surprised by the love our contemporaries are showing it.

CAROLINE: I liked it because it was stylish and cool, and I love the Gosling, but I don’t think it’s Best Picture material. And I’m a little surprised at how few nominations The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo got.

RYAN: Honey, don’t even get me started on the snubbing of the final HP movie!! Only nominations for technical awards – nada for Alan Rickman or the movie as a whole. Devastating!

CAROLINE: Not everyone is as HP obsessed as you, darling. I prefer the earlier HP movies as you know.

RYAN: Nonetheless, it’s a shame. But we’re thrilled to be voting again this year for the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards! The ceremony airs Thursday, January 12, 2012 on VH1 and is hosted by Rob Huebel and Paul Scheer. I’ll be there – covering the red carpet and attending the show. Do check it out; and look for me in the audience!
