THE EX

RYAN: A very merry thank you to Adam from Gen Art for scoring us two fabulous tickets to the red carpet premiere of “The Ex.”

CAROLINE: It was such a thrill! We were at the premiere with Zach Braff, Amanda Peet and Jason Bateman, all of whom star in the film. Sadly, Jason is much shorter than I thought he would be.

RYAN: It was held at the Director’s Guild of America screening room, which is gorgeous by the way, and there was assigned seating. We sat smack-dab across the aisle from Amanda Peet; but before we get there, let’s set up the scene outside.

CAROLINE: It was one of those stealth premieres that happen in NYC, where you’re walking down the street and you see all these photographers, and you think, “Hmm, what’s going on here?” And in tonight’s case, it was the red carpet for “The Ex.”

RYAN: There actually was a red carpet on the New York sidewalk.

CAROLINE: We saw all of the stars come out of their big black SUVs.

RYAN: First was Amanda Peet and she looked great. Next was Zach Braff, and then Jason Bateman.

CAROLINE: Flashbulbs were a-poppin’. But we digress. Let’s discuss the movie, which is a tight ninety minutes and it’s a hoot!

RYAN: It was really funny, and a couple of times I actually turned to see Amanda Peet’s reaction to herself onscreen.

CAROLINE: What was she doing?

RYAN: She was just beaming up at the screen. It was really sweet.

CAROLINE: Oh, so she’s in love with herself?

RYAN: [laughs’ Maybe. But she does a really good job in the film. I think she’s a very sincere actress.

CAROLINE: Yes, I like her too. She’s cute in this, as is Zach Braff. Let’s be honest, he plays pretty much the same character in every movie, but it’s always adorable.

RYAN: I like him as an actor but I have to say, maybe he’s becoming a bit like Ben Stiller and just playing the same role over and over.

CAROLINE: At least he does it well.

RYAN: There’s also hottie Jason Bateman who, for the record, is shorter than me in person.

CAROLINE: He plays a huge asshole in this movie and did it fabulously.

RYAN: You love to hate him.

CAROLINE: While the movie is hilarious, some scenes are very uncomfortable, as our friend Adam pointed out to me several times during the film.

RYAN: Some moments are very painful and awkward when you put yourself in the characters’ shoes.

CAROLINE: We should also point out that a hilarious Charles Grodin returns to the big screen in this film after a thirteen-year absence.

RYAN: Bottom line?

CAROLINE: I really liked this movie. It made me laugh out loud several times so I’d definitely recommend it. It’s got good thirty-something angst in a “What am I doing with my life?” kind of way.

RYAN: I love a good relationship film. It has a really great soundtrack too, so go out and see it – for the fun of it!

Thanks For Viewing The THE EX
