DISTURBIA
RYAN: Since it’s gotten much fanfare at the box office, I hunkered down and bit the “Disturbia” bullet.
CAROLINE: The verdict is in. What say you?
RYAN: Overall, it’s a well-designed film, but this is definitely one for the kids.
CAROLINE: Ryan, how shocking to hear you say that. You always consider yourself to be one of the kids.
RYAN: Don’t get me wrong, I appreciated the movie on that level. But I think this would have been a much better film without all the teen angst, which pulled it down in the middle.
CAROLINE: Oy. Glad I skipped this one.
RYAN: Not so fast. The first fifteen minutes was one of the best openings of a movie ever, and the suspense scenes are great. David Morse is an awesome bad guy. And the future son of Indiana Jones, Shia LaBeouf, may be worth the millions he’s bound to earn in the future.
CAROLINE: Wow. I mean, I knew he was cute on SNL but that’s a strong statement. Is he the next Leo?
RYAN: I can’t be so bold as to predict that, but he’s very real and sincere on screen.
CAROLINE: Did the movie ever make you jump in your seat?
RYAN: Yes, a couple times.
CAROLINE: And how’s the Asian sidekick?
RYAN: …
CAROLINE: I’ll take that as…well, I don’t know what I’ll take that as. Bottom line?
RYAN: It’s pretty solid, but it’s clearly reigning #1 for three consecutive weeks only due to lack of other choices.
CAROLINE: You have spoken.
